Tibet's 1st geographic condition survey to be completed next year
The first geographic condition survey will be completed by 80 percent in Tibet by the end of this year, Chinatibetnews.com reported.
Authority said the survey will be all finished by mid next year.
The task is arduous because of the vast region, talent shortage, unadvanced technology, outdated equipments, as well as limited budget, according to the Office of Geographic Conditions Survey of Tibet.
The survey has been carried out in seven regions of Tibet, six of which have been investigated with the central government’s support.
The region of seven counties and one district in Lhasa is the only one to be independently investigated by the local government. A comprehensive survey has been made there in August of last year with 40 technicians participating in it. It will be 100 percent completed by June 30, 2014.
By offering authentic information, the geographic condition survey will be helpful for the local government to make scientific plans, promote environmental protection, strengthen disaster prevention and optimize resource allocation.
