China, Japan to hold 8th round of high-level talks on maritime affairs
China and Japan will hold their eighth round of high-level consultations on maritime affairs in Shanghai on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Officials from the foreign ministries, defense ministries, maritime law enforcement and management departments of both sides will attend the talks, said foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang.
China expects to fully exchange views with Japan on maritime issues of common concern, in a bid to strengthen understanding and mutual trust, Geng said.
The China-Japan High-level Consultations on Maritime Affairs were set up in 2012. The last round of consultations was held in Fukuoka, Japan in June.
In the last round of consultations, China and Japan held meetings on politics and law, maritime defense, maritime law enforcement and security, and maritime economy.
