Universities across China are organizing activities to promote the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) among students especially using new media to help them better learn Marxism and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

"Tsinghua University has launched a promotion group consisting of leaders of the university, scholars and professors from the School of Marxism to give lectures among teaching faculty and students," associate professor Feng Wuzhong of Tsinghua University's School of Marxism, told the Global Times.

Teachers on ideological and political theory courses are delivering knowledge of the report to the Party Congress in their daily work, Feng said.

Wuhan University in Central China's Hubei Province has set up a special congress website, offering learning materials, scholars' views and other activities, Gong Wende, secretary of the Party committee of the School of Philosophy in Wuhan University, told the Global Times

"We have organized a group of PhD students to promote the report to the Party Congress in an effort to combine studying and promotion. And we also have 'micro education' - short video lectures or promoting congress knowledge among students on WeChat and other instant messaging apps," Gong said.

More universities across China have reportedly organized promotion activities for the congress.

The School of Humanities under the East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai is offering a list of teachers. Party committees and student organizations can invite teachers from the list to lecture on congress-related topics, thepaper.cn reported on Monday.

The Shanghai Municipal Education Commission said 12 universities in Shanghai have organized a theory group on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

"Aside from lectures, promotion activities delivered by new media are more popular and easily accepted among students, including videos and live streaming online," Feng said.

Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunication has developed learning software that concentrates the report to the 19th Party congress in seven classes and allows students to learn them any time, the Xinhua News Agency reported on November 26.

"The 19th congress is significant for our society and promoting it among students in colleges is crucial since they are the tower of strength in building a moderately prosperous society in the next 15 to 20 years," Feng said.

Promoting the spirit of the 19th congress is in accordance with the demand of managing colleges under the guidance of socialism, Gong said. Teachers can deepen their own understanding and belief in the latest achievements of Marxism and better adopt them in their teaching duties.

A student, surnamed Yu from Central South University in Central China's Hunan Province told the Global Times that his university has organized group discussions as well as tours to revolutionary sites to promote the congress.

"All the activities help us better understand the congress. Instead of regarding the congress as a political event far removed from our life, we now regard it as related to the future of the country and we are thrilled to see the congress attaches great importance to the development of talent. We hope to make our own contribution," Yu said.
