Estonia expects closer bilateral relations with China: legislator
Estonia will strengthen its relations with China to bring more cooperation, said said Helmen Kutt, Chairman of the Estonia-China parliamentary group, on Tuesday.
Delivering a speech at an annual reception for the parliamentary group hosted by Chinese Ambassador to Estonia Qu Zhe, Kutt said that the Estonian parliament holds China in high regard and will work for closer bilateral ties.
"The cooperation takes place at all times and at many different levels, starting from increasing number of business contacts, as well as student and cultural exchanges," Kutt said.
The 22-member Estonia-China parliamentary group is one of the most active and among the biggest parliamentary groups in Estonian parliament, Kutt said.
Qu reviewed frequent bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and trade, culture and education, tourism as well as people-to-people exchanges.
Qu said that "16+1" cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEE) is an indispensable platform for win-win cooperation and had provided added value to the bilateral relations between Estonia and China.
"Our cooperation within the framework of '16+1' format yields many results in various fields," he said.
