Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault in Beijing.

The Chinese leader called on both sides to push forward bilateral cooperation of mutual benefit as well as people-to-people exchanges.

Xi Jinping particularly stressed the significance of joint projects between the two sides, including the construction of a nuclear power plant in Britain.

The Chinese president also urged efforts to effectively implement the agreements reached at the G20 Summit in Hangzhou.

For his part, Ayrault said France is willing to enhance bilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative and within the framework of the UN.
