He Yunchang, one of China's most iconic performance artists, opened his solo exhibition in Beijing, displaying almost twenty works highlighting the artist's twenty years of creative practice.

The Today Art Museum will present this exhibition from July 8th to August 1st, which shows He Yunchang's various artistic means of expression, including performance art, photography and installation art.

According to Gao Peng, the museum curator, the exhibition may unveil some works which used to be inaccessible to private individuals.

"The videos about many of his early performances, which have never been publicized before, are shown during the ongoing exhibition. There are also a series of pictures he took with his mother and several females respectively who wear a necklace made of the artist's 8th rib. People might know his art from the news reports or picture albums, but today they would come to feel the true entity in person at the museum."

He Yunchang, sometimes known by the familiar nickname A Chang, specializes in undergoing extreme physical duress or injury in his performance art.

His past projects have additionally included jewelry making, photography, painting, video, and sculpture.
