A total of 203 million trips have been made by Chinese passengers during this year's spring festival travel rush as of February 18, according to data released by China Railway Corporation.

Specifically, the country's railways served about 8.776 million people nationwide on Thursday, among which the Shanghai Railway handled 1.525 million passengers, up 1.5% the same period last year; Chengdu had 837 thousand people, increasing 147 thousand from the previous year.

As many as 755 extra trains have been running across China and 8.5 million journeys are expected to be made on Friday.
