Education Ministers from China, South Korea and Japan have sat down this weekend for a 3-way meeting.

Among the issues discussed included student exchanges and partnership programs among schools.

Chinese Education Minister Yuan Guiren says the Ministers have agreed to keep doing this every year.

"China, Japan and South Korea are all very important countries in Asia. Establishing the education ministers meeting mechanism will help deepen the cooperation among the three which is of great importance and meanings. China is willing to further cooperate with Japan and South Korea in higher education, vocational education, basic education, youth exchanges, and language education and so on. We should learn each other's good points for common progress."

It's being reported one of the issues which was left off the table during the meeting in Seoul was history education.

The various interpretations of history among China, South Korea and Japan have led to significant political issues. Beijing and Seoul have accused Tokyo of trying to downplay its wartime past.
