Protection of naked carp in Qinghai Lake

2017-07-10 14:02:50

Forty years ago, Li Yifan, a fisherman working on Qinghai Lake, could catch more than 100 naked carps a day. Now, at the age of 50 years old, he's setting his foot on the road of protecting the fish species.

The local government is playing a main role in revitalizing naked carp. Since 2002, Qinghai Province has put more than 100 million artificially reproduced naked carp krill to Qinghai Lake, with an 85% survival rate. After 15 years of efforts, the fish in Qinghai Lake has recovered to a level of 70.8 thousand tons in 2016.
